STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Neighborhood Church holds to the beliefs outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message

( http://www.sbc.net/bfm2000/bfm2000.asp ) . Of course, most reading this are not going to go read the entire document so this is a very concise listing of our core beliefs.

A. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, inerrant and the authoritative Word of God. With the New Testament revelation now complete, we believe that Scripture becomes the sole test of the “Word from the Lord”.

B. We believe in one God manifested in three personalities and eternally existent as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

C. We believe in the personality of Satan, and his present control over unregenerate man and his continuous attempt to control and deceive the regenerated man.

D. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

E. We believe in the fall of man and his lost estate, which makes necessary a rebirth through belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.

F. We believe in the reconciliation of man to God by the substitutionary death and shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. This reconciliation comes through faith alone in Jesus Christ.

G. We believe in the resurrection of believers unto everlasting life and blessing in Heaven, and the resurrection of unbelievers unto everlasting punishment in the torments of Hell.

H. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and is sealed unto eternal life.

I. We believe that the church is:
The Indivisible Body of Christ bound together by the Holy Spirit, consisting only of those who are born again in Christ and for whom He shall come again.

A Local Body of Born Again Believers who have joined together in a centralized location and community in order to glorify God by uniting in Worship, Christian Fellowship, Ministry, Discipleship, Evangelism, and prayer.

J. We believe that God can and does do miraculous healings, at His will, whenever He deems fit. God does hear and answer the prayer of faith, but He will answer in accordance with His own perfect will for the sick, suffering, and afflicted. We do not believe that any one person possesses the gift of healing today.
